Job Specification

The Role

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, driven, and with a keen passion for technology to come and join our organisation as a Senior Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure Engineer who is skilled with architecting and implementing Compute, Networking, and other cloud infrastructure.

Although our head office is based in Leeds, this role can be performed remotely, from your home.  It will involve frequent travel around the country, mostly to Leeds and London, and occasionally international travel.

Your role will include working with our Delivery team to document and design solutions that will utilise the Google Cloud Platform stack of technologies. You will be expected to ensure these complex projects are successful from the information gathering stages, through to initial concept, design, and as an escalation point throughout the project. 

Another side of your role will be the escalation point for our experienced support team for complex infrastructure issues.

There will be exposure to a wide variety of technologies and software and you will be expected to investigate the use of new technologies as they become available.

  • Working with customers to take a complex project from initial concept through to design
  • Working as the escalation point for our support team to diagnose complex infrastructure issues
  • Contributing to Statements of Work to clearly define the scope of projects
  • Working with customers to help them leverage cloud environments to replace and update legacy data centre applications and equipment.
  • Being at the forefront of technology, presenting ideas and solutions internally.
  • Upskilling internal staff members by leading “Lunch and Learn” sessions, and one-on-one support as necessary.
  • Publishing articles and blogs to promote our brand.

Skill Set

Technologies / Skillset:

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • A background of working with public cloud services; AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Consulting
  • Cloud Security
  • Network connectivity & design
  • IP design
  • Database design
  • ETL pipeline design
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Designing and architecting complex solutions
  • Contributing on a technical level to customer-facing sales meetings

It would be advantageous for any candidate to:

  • Have a Cloud Architecture or Data Engineering background
  • Have a genuine passion for learning new technologies
  • Have worked with the Google Cloud team on previous opportunities
  • Have the Google Cloud Data Engineer, or the Google Cloud Architect certifications
  • Have any other certifications from AWS or Microsoft for their cloud platforms
  • Have any security certifications
  • Experience of containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Anthos in a production environment
  • Experience of working with continuous integration technologies
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Previous experience in an infrastructure support role
  • Strong Linux background
