Job Specification

The role

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, driven and with a keen passion for technology to come and join our organisation as a Junior Technical Specialist who is skilled in Google Workspace along with some of the legacy servers and on-premise infrastructure. This position would be ideal for candidates looking to make a transition from a support role and advance their career.

Although our head office is based in Leeds, this role can be performed remotely, from your home. It may involve travel around the country, mostly to Leeds and London, and occasionally international travel.

Your role will include working in our SaaS Delivery team to assist with technical activities for Google Workspace implementations such as; the build and monitoring of migration servers, installation and configuration of provisioning tools, and guiding administrators on the platform. You will be expected to support Senior Consultants in the successful delivery of backend technical activities within a Google Workspace project.

There will be exposure to a wide variety of technologies and software and you will be expected to investigate the use of new technologies as they become available.

  • Supporting Senior Consultants on customer deployments
  • Installation and configuration of platform synchronization tools
  • Build and monitor migration servers
  • Investigation and resolution of technical issues
  • Log extraction and analysis
  • Documenting technical approach
  • Running batch scripts
  • Setting up administrative policies to the customer’s requirements
  • Providing guidance on; device management, mail routing, admin console and related Google
  • Workspace services and tools for administrators

Other elements may include:

  • Working as the escalation point for our support team to diagnose complex Google Workspace issues
  • Promoting and leveraging Google Workspace to replace old business processes
  • Being at the forefront of technology, presenting ideas and solutions internally
  • Upskilling internal staff members by leading “Lunch and Learn” sessions, and one-on-one support as necessary
  • Publishing articles and blogs to promote our brand

Requirements

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • SaaS-based products
  • Active Directory and LDAP queries
  • IT support and administration
  • Email routing
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

It would be advantageous for any candidate to:

  • Have a Google Workspace administration background (and/or other messaging platforms such as O365/Exchange, IBM Notes, and various IMAP systems)
  • Have a general understanding of mobile management platforms
  • Have a genuine passion for learning new technologies
  • Have past experience in data migrations and/or deploying virtual machines
  • Have the Google Collaboration Engineer certification (and/or other certifications from
  • Microsoft or IBM for their messaging systems)
  • Have run scripts in a CLI environment
  • Have knowledge of security, authentication, and authorisation
  • Have a general knowledge of GCP or other cloud platforms
