Job Specification

The Role

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, driven, and with a keen passion for technology to come and join our organisation as a Junior Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure Engineer who is skilled with implementing Compute, Networking, and other cloud infrastructure, and wants to develop into a cloud architect.

Although our head office is based in Leeds, this role can be performed remotely, from your home. It will involve frequent travel around the country, mostly to Leeds and London, and occasionally international travel.

Your role will include working with our Support team to monitor and respond to GCP-related support tickets. Another side of your role is to work with the Delivery team to run sessions such as GCP Foundation Workshops, GCP Health Checks, implementation of GCP services in customer projects, and making sense of log files

There will be exposure to a wide variety of technologies and software and you will be expected to investigate the use of new technologies as they become available.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

Providing excellent support to our customers
Ensuring support tickets are successfully answered within SLAs
Deliver workshops to customer around GCP, such as Health Checks, Foundational knowledge, etc
Assisting delivery with implementation of GCP infrastructure such as compute, networking, Security, and others.
Upskilling internal staff members by leading “Lunch and Learn” sessions, and one-on-one support as necessary.

Skillset

Technologies / Skillset:

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:

A background of working with public cloud services; AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Experience with servers (virtual or physical), networking, and monitoring
Experience working on an IT support desk
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Contributing on a technical level to customer-facing sales meetings

It would be advantageous for any candidate to:

Have a genuine passion for learning new technologies
Have previously worked with GCP services
Have the Google Cloud Associate, or the Google Cloud Architect certifications
Have any other certifications from AWS or Microsoft for their cloud platforms
Have experience of containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Anthos in a production environment
Have experience with Infrastructure as Code
Have had previous experience in an infrastructure support role
Have a Linux background
