Along with an accredited firewall and Virtual Private Networking functionality, NetPilot Remote offers Internet access via a number of transmission technologies, including ADSL and optionally ISDN.

Unusually from a small office access product sophisticated Anti Virus and Anti Spam facilities are also optionally available.

NetPilot Remote meets customer demand for a lower priced VPN/firewall solution in branch offices and is an ideal complement to more powerful NetPilot Plus or NetPilot Enterprise devices at head office.

It also offers a high level of Internet access control, with N2H2 website filtering available as a subscription-based extra. In short, NetPilot Remote is everything you would expect from the market leader in multifunctional security appliances - the highest levels of security, functionality and flexibility in one robust unit.

NetPilot Remote offers a complete security and control package that is powerful yet easy to administer. User access controls, web filters and time-based connectivity controls are complemented by a firewall that has undergone rigorous independent testing and accreditation.

Among the security functionality that can be incorporated as subscription-based extras with NetPilot Remote, is enhanced website filtering utilising market leader N2H2's unrivalled database of URLs, Sophos powered Anti Virus and powerful Anti Spam features.

NetPilot Remote FAQs

Q:
How does the NetPilot Remote differ from a NetPilot 3 unit (the next model up in the range)?
A: The Remote is designed for fewer numbers of users - i.e. smaller offices with up to 15 users. The NetPilot 3 has more processing power being designed to handle up to 30 users, but additionally is better suited to handling multiple Boundary Services upgrades such as combinations of Anti Virus, Anti Spam, and Filtering all at one time.

Q: Can I receive email from my ISP and then forward through the NetPilot Remote to a separate MS Exchange email server sitting behind the Remote ?
A: Yes.

Q: What WAN connectivity options and models are available on the NetPilot Remote ?
A: The NetPilot Remote has two models:

1026/300001 NetPilot Remote - Dual Ethernet (for ADSL) - £495
1026/000001 NetPilot Remote - Dual Ethernet ADSL/ISDN - £595

Q: What Boundary services work with the NetPilot Remote ?
A: All current services. We strongly recommend that for users that need multiple services and are connecting to higher speed Internet services they consider deploying NetPilot 3.

Q: What VPN functionality does the Remote possess ?
A: The full TurboVPN offering of IPSec, CIPE, and ability to interface with Safenet VPN clients.
Note: With IPSec you will need ISP services with fixed IP addresses. If you have VPN clients requiring remote access into the NetPilot Remote - you will need both fixed IP addresses and a non-dialled connection for the NetPilot Remote. e.g. ADSL with NONAT.

Q: How many VPN clients are included with NetPilot Remote ?
A: None are bundled, but can be purchased online.

Q: I need to relay email via my VPN through my central site NetPilot, rather than directly to my ISP. Is this possible ?
A: Yes - but you need to ensure you are using a service with a fixed IP address on your NetPilot Remote. The central NetPilot needs to be configured with this fixed IP address as an allowed relaying node.

Q: Does NetPilot Remote work with ADSL ?
A: Yes. A suitable ADSL modem is additionally required.

Q: You keep mentioning the Remote is designed to work with other bigger NetPilots which would be located at central offices, but I only have one small office in my organisation, is the Remote suitable for me ?
A: Yes the NetPilot Remote can operate as a connectivity and firewall solution.

Q: Does the Remote support NAT-T, so I can access its LAN from behind another firewall ?
A: Yes the new NetPilot Remotes run Version 3 software and therefore can support support NAT-T.
